Golf in the Smokies - A Unique Experience

Have you ever played golf in the mountains? If not, you've missed a real treat! Not only do the Smokies hold several world-class courses, but also the scenery you'll experience while making the rounds is nothing short of spectacular.

Bent Creek Golf Course in Gatlinburg

Designed by three-time Masters and British Open Championship winner Gary Player, Bent Creek literally has its ups and downs. The front nine lay level in the valley. The back nine, however, deliver a greater challenge with a mountain course. All the while, you'll find the course's namesake, Bent Creek, meandering throughout the landscape. Named by Southern Living Travel Guide as one of the Top Fifty Golf Courses in the South, Bent Creek is a must-play while in the Smokies.

Gatlinburg Golf Course in Pigeon Forge

Look in any direction and you'll discover stunning scenery. Mountain ranges flank the sides while massive pines and other evergreens line the fairways. The recent completion of a half million-dollar renovation has left Gatlinburg Golf Course in pristine condition and ready for you. A design of noted golf course-architect William Langford, this course is well landscaped and offers a challenging day for novice and experienced golfers.

While there, you must play the twelfth hole, better known as "Sky Hi." This 194-yard hole dramatically drops 200 feet tee to green for some incredible driving and putting. Located in Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg Golf Course is convenient to both downtown and Dollywood.

Eagle's Landing Golf Course in Sevierville

With a four-star rating from Golf Digest and a nomination for Golf Digest’s “Best Public Course” award in 1995, Eagle's Landing is one golf course you won't want to miss. A championship course, Eagle's Landing has hosted the Tennessee PGA Tournament as well as other prestigious events. However, it's accessible to all. With five sets of tees, players of every skill level can enjoy 18 on this course.

River Islands Golf Club in Knoxville

River Islands is an exceptional course that also rates Golf Digest's four-star rating. Nestled along the bank of the French Broad River, you'll play nine water holes including those on individual islands. Designed by internationally renowned golf course-architect Arthur Hills, River Islands puts spectacular golf within reach: it's only 30 minutes from Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. From mountain peaks breaking through the misty morning air to a river that intertwines throughout the course, River Islands merges nature and sport flawlessly.

Challenging, exhilarating, beautiful, memorable. A golf experience like no other awaits you in Tennessee's Smoky Mountains. Pack your clubs, your shoes and your camera; then make your way to some of the most unique courses in the United States. You'll thoroughly enjoy this different style of golf so much you'll want to return year after year.
